Buying Property in Spain
As in Britain prices of property
in Spain vary quite considerably between different areas.
In common with prices back home those in Spain have
shown considerable increases in recent years but there
are still good opportunities within the market. More
recently prices have dropped substantially due to the
ecconomic climate of uncertainty.
A Newcomers Club operates
on a weekly basis in a local hotel. This is designed
to give advice on all aspects of moving to and living
on the Costa Blanca. Here you can meet others who have
recently taken up residence in the area and discuss
any problems with those who have experience of living
in Spain. Details of venues usually appear in local
English newspapers most of which are free and are published
weekly.
Some things you should know about
Many real estate agents in Spain have
closed since the downturn in 2008 and no doubt many
more will follow in their footsteps.
Traditionally such agents have charged
very large sums of money for their services when selling
properties and they always favoured selling new houses
as these brought the highest returns. Typically agents
would charge anything up to 25% of the total selling
price on new ventures and as much as 15% on re-sale
properties.
It therefore makes sense to sell properties
independently and by doing so reduce the asking price
by many thousands of euros. It pays to deal directly
with the owner. The prices of properties on this site
reflect such savings.
